This week, two FIRE-RES project partners joined efforts in Odèn and Viladecavalls (Catalonia) to organise two days of practical demonstrations showcasing small and light forestry machinery.

Developing one the several Innovation Actions that are foreseen in the project, the Forestry Science and Technology Center of Catalonia (CTFC) and the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) held demonstrations to introduce forestry companies to a new generation of versatile machines designed for cutting, processing, and extracting trees from forests. Notable for their compact size, these machines offer cost-effective solutions for acquisition, maintenance, and transportation.

Aligned with FIRE-RES objectives, the use of these light machines contributes to improved forest management by making forestry work more affordable and facilitating wood extraction. The machines play a crucial role in fire prevention, addressing a sector where mechanization is still underdeveloped. The events drew over 130 participants from the forestry sector in Catalonia, Aragon, and the Balearic Islands, including representatives from administrations, companies, and agricultural school students.
