IA 5.8. Prototyping and testing innovative tools for EW ICS training certificates
OVERVIEW
What kind of result is this? | New training course for Incident Commanders and Fire Analysts in EWE
What’s the area addressed? | Advanced Technology Solutions
What’s the covered phase? | Prevention & Preparedness, Detection & Response
What’s the addressed challenge? | Improving the specialised training of Incident Commanders and Fire Analysts to effectively and safely manage EWE.
What value is proposed? | It is intended that the knowledge and skills acquired in training by the Incident Commanders & Fire Analysts improve the strategies and tactics implemented in forest firefighting, namely forest fires that have the potential to become EWE. The ability to anticipate the behaviour of forest fires will lead to better decision-making, which will also lead to a reduction in human losses. During the course, virtual reality exercises will be used at a landscape level to improve decision making. It will also involve training schools (ENB) to upscale and implement EW ICS certifications at European scale.
Who can use it? | Firefighters and other personnel participating in emergency response, who play the role of Incident Commander and Fire Analyst
What type of tool is it? | Training program
How does it look like? | Report
This tool is… | ⊠ a new tool | ☐ an improved tool |
What are the vision & mission statement? | Better coordination of the knowledge and skills of Fire Analysts with those of Incident Commanders will result in improved decision-making supported by analysis and understanding of fire behaviour. Defining appropriate strategies and tactics in the early hours of the fire will impact its development and consequences.
When will it be complete? | November 2024.
