Optimization and Wildfire Conference
October 1 - October 4
The Optimization and Wildfire (O&W) conference aims to create a unique environment for the exchange of knowledge and experiences among researchers working on these highly relevant areas. Additionally, it seeks to provide participants with insights into the state-of-the-art and emerging topics in O&W.
The conference will be held at the Grande Hotel do Luso, situated in Luso, a small town in the center of Portugal, near the Bussaco Forest, a managed forest since the XVII century.
The FIRE-RES Advisory Board Member David Martell (University of Toronto) and FIRE-RES partner José C. Borges (University of Lisbon) will be among the keynote speakers. FIRE-RES partner José Ramón Gonzalez (CTFC) will present IA2.5. Brigite Botequim (CoLAB ForestWISE) will give two presentations: as the first author on optimizing forest management practices to enhance cultural services in the FIRE-RES Vale de Sousa Living Lab, and as a co-author on Strategic Fire Hazard Mitigation Planning in Lousã, with Ana Sá presenting the latter work.
