FIRE-RES “Innovative solutions for fire risk management” side event at 8MFW
November 5 @ 17h00 - 18h30 CET
On 5 November, between 17:00 and 18:30, the “Innovative Solutions for Fire Risk Management,” event organized by the European Forest Institute (EFI) will feature several distinguished speakers: Daan Aerts and Joost Lubach from Wildflyer B.V.; Fernando Pulido from the Universidad de Extremadura; Víctor Resco de Dios from the University of Lleida; Laia Crespo and Jordi Jon Pardo, freelancers funded by the National Geographic Society; Soazig Darnay from CTFC; and Fábio Silva from INESC TEC and FEUP.
This gathering, part of the FIRE-RES project, is conceptualized as a concise wrap-up and networking side-event for the participants of the 8th Mediterranean Forest Week. Taking place on the second day of the MFW, it is scheduled directly after the plenary session on wildfire prevention and post-fire restoration, thereby underscoring the critical role of innovation in these phases of wildfire risk management.
The event will commence with a keynote speech that sets the scene by discussing the role of innovation in building resilience against Extreme Wildfire Events. Following this, there will be a series of pitches and displays showcasing innovative solutions for fire risk management. The event will close with an opportunity for networking, accompanied by food and drinks, fostering an environment for exchange among participants. This structure aligns with the FIRE-RES goals of advancing scalable and transferable solutions within the wildfire management field, ultimately aiming to contribute to the creation of resilient landscapes.
