FIRE-RES Innovation Day Series
October 29 - October 30
The FIRE-RES Innovation Day Series is a unique initiative designed to promote integrated wildfire management by uniting stakeholders from diverse backgrounds. These events aim to mitigate wildfire risks to landscapes and communities through a combination of technical, technological, social, and ecological solutions. They will address a range of themes, from wildfire preparedness and response to governance, from financing tools to social interventions.
The Innovation Days are conceived as intensive one-day networking and partnership-building events. They feature keynote speeches, local innovation success stories, high-impact solution pitches, and networking exercises. The inaugural event in Penafiel, Portugal will span two days, 29 and 30 October 2024 and serve as both an innovation showcase and a community engagement platform, leveraging synergies between multiple FIRE-RES commitments. Two other events will take place in the first and second quarter of 2025, in Bulgaria and Spain.
The FIRE-RES Innovation Day Series aims to encourage stakeholders to adopt new ideas and technologies for mitigating wildfire risks, fostering collaboration among wildfire management actors to ensure a comprehensive approach. Additionally, the series seeks to engage young entrepreneurs, researchers, and professionals to bring fresh perspectives and expertise to the field. A key objective is to empower rural communities affected by wildfires, ensuring fair distribution of environmental risks and promoting environmental justice.
The FIRE-RES Innovation Days are intended for innovators, integrated wildfire management stakeholders, and interested local community members. The event targets start-ups, innovative SMEs, entrepreneurs, researchers, NGOs, decision-makers, policymakers, and investors in relevant sectors. This is not a public event, and a call for expressions of interest to pitch innovative solutions will be launched among the community of innovators associated with the FIRE-RES project, including Innovation Actions and Open Innovation Challenge participants.
Join us in shaping the future of wildfire management through collaboration, innovation, and community engagement at the FIRE-RES Innovation Day Series.
