TIEMS 2024 Hybrid Annual Conference
November 26 - November 29
The 2024 Hybrid TIEMS Annual Conference in India is planned from 26 to 29 November 2024. It focuses on addressing the critical need for effective disaster risk management and resilience building amidst increasing environmental and socio-economic challenges. The conference theme revolves around three key aspects:
- Risk Governance: Managing risks and uncertainties to minimize their impact on communities and infrastructure, essential for sustainable development.
- Resilience Building: Enhancing the capacity to anticipate, absorb, recover from, and adapt to adverse events through proactive measures and community engagement.
- Humanitarian Programming: Adapting to the complex interplay between natural hazards, climate change, and human vulnerability to improve the effectiveness and sustainability of humanitarian efforts.
The four-day conference will cover four main themes: global perspectives on disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, innovations in disaster management, and critical infrastructure protection. It will address a variety of sub-themes including disaster preparedness, early warning systems, emergency response, climate change adaptation, skill development, conflict resolution, risk financing, ecosystem restoration, and community-based disaster risk reduction. The conference aims to advance the global agenda on disaster risk management and resilience building, preparing for, responding to, and recovering from disasters, climate change, and conflicts in a rapidly changing world.
