Q.SYSTEM: an integrated system for the management of forest fire and natural disaster
Hightek’s Q.SYSTEM is an aerial firefighting technology focused on disaster management. It autonomously detects, monitors, plans, and suppresses wildfires by combining heavy-lift UAVs, ground monitoring systems, and data-driven prediction tools. The system supports pilots and decision-makers with real-time wildfire data. It automatically leverages data collected during water-bombing flights, eliminating additional costs for dedicated surveillance. In addition, the system has Q.FLY, a multi-camera aerial vision system, and Q.WEB, a cloud-based disaster management platform. Watch this video to learn more.
Speaker: Francesco De Vivo, Hightek
Terrafarmers: accelerating post-wildfire natural restoration
Terrafarmers’ post-wildfire solution offers a cost-effective, low-impact method for restoring ecosystems using drone technology. The process begins with terrain mapping, soil analysis, and ecosystem modelling. Drones autonomously plant native species using seed balls, deploying up to two carbon seed pods per second while recording the GPS location of each pod. Planted areas are re-mapped within one to six months to monitor seedling growth and ensure successful reforestation. Terrafarmers also work with landowners and organisations interested in carbon credits and offsetting.
Speaker: Daniela Neves de Sá, Terrafarmers
The next Forestry Speed Dating sessions will be held monthly until the end of first quarter of 2025, offering speakers a chance to present their solutions to a global audience of like-minded innovators, key stakeholders, and potential end-users. Anyone can join the audience for these events. You can find the recording of the November webinar session here.
